The current committee (elected 8th May 2019) consists of:
Ruth Rees (Martin Rees Jewellers) – Chairman
John Jones (Quality Acoustics) – Secretary
Matt McHale (La Baguette Café) – Treasurer
Daphne Roberts (Abode Above)
Our members range from small, new one-man businesses, to larger enterprises with thirty or more employees. Many are based in or around the town centre, but membership is open to anyone who owns or manages a business within the County Borough.
Our members actively participate in the Town Centre Forum, and its Steering Group. The Forum also includes Wrexham County Borough Council elected members and officers, and people from the Voluntary Sector, Schools, National Brands, landlords, banks, and local charities.
The Forum is currently (2019) chaired by Wayne Price (AMP Accounting), and Vice-Chairman is Andy Gallanders (Bank Street Social).
The aims of the forum are to improve pride in our town, increase footfall, reduce the vacant units and increase jobs in the town.
We worked closely with the Healthy High Streets group (funded by Co-op, M&S, Santander and Boots) in their mission to rejuvenate Wrexham’s town centre. Particular thanks are due to Aileen Walters from Co-op, who put in many hours of her own time to help us, and continued to do so even after she left her job at the Co-op!
We are also building closer links with the longer-established Wrexham Business Professionals Group (no, we didn’t know about them when we named our group!)
Plus between all our members we have all kinds of other useful links and contacts.
